The Best Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo
For pets with shedding fur A robot vacuum/mop set-up is among the best floor cleaning options. This machine can mop, vacuum and clean its own mop pad with dual mop pads.
It also has the most suction power of any robot we have tested, at 8,800Pa. It also allows you to set up cleaning schedules and save maps of your home from its app.
1. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni
The X2 Omni is best robot vacuum for pet hair wirecutter in Ecovacs line of robot vacuum-mop hybrids. This wet-dry model is equipped with Ecovacs' new AIVI 3D 2.0 lidar system that provides improved mapping and obstacle avoidance. The system uses dual-laser LiDAR similar to the kind you'll find in self-driving vehicles and is able to scan up to 32 feet wide by 270 degrees. This results in more precise mapping as well as faster response time and greater cleaning accuracy.
It also has an alternating mopping mat made of chenille, making it easier to scrub hard spots than traditional mop. In my testing the X2 Omni took just over a minute to wash its pad before getting to work. I also noticed that it was more precise than previous models that seemed to follow a grid path around rooms. It was able navigate corners and edges of my rooms and also create "Zambani patterns" across the middle of the room. It returned to its OMNI Station on a regular basis to empty the dustbin, and clean the mop with hot water, before starting another task of cleaning.
Like other Ecovacs products, the X2 Omni is simple to set up and begin using. It takes just minutes to put the dock in place, plug it in, and pair with your Wi-Fi network at home. Then, you can launch the app and start with your first cleaning project. I was able to dive into the settings and personalize my floor plan in less than 15 minutes, including creating restricted areas for sweeping and mopping as well as reworking my wall-mounted furniture placements, and more. The X2 Omni was impressive in my tests. It scored high in the areas of pet hair removal as well as debris removal, and also had near-perfect results for crevices and edge cleaning.
2. Deebot T10 Omni
If you need a powerful combination of mopping and vacuuming look into the EcoVACS Deebot T10 Omni. It is the most sophisticated of the T-line from the company and features the brand new OZMO Turbo2.0 mopping system, which uses dual-spinning brush for better cleaning than conventional scrubbing. It has YIKO, a natural language processing technology that is a first of its kind. This allows it to respond to various voice commands. The ECOVACS App allows you to map your house, create cleaning schedules and adjust settings.
The T10 Omni's biggest flaw is that it's unable to switch between mopping and vacuuming in one run. Both modes require that you attach and take off the mop heads as you need to which is great for most homes but not an ideal choice for those who have a busy schedule.
The Deebot T10 is a fantastic robot vacuum that produces impressive results. It vacuumed up more than 96% of the dust we tossed at it on our hardwood flooring which is an impressive performance. It did an excellent job on tiles and carpets, removing 99% of dirt.
This robot vacuum and mop has a large docking system that allows for automatic cleaning with cool mop pads. It also features an auto-emptying 3L bag that's easy to replace and hot air drying for quick and simple maintenance. It also has a large water tank that allows for more frequent rinses and dry between mopping runs.
The Deebot T10 features a wash tray that is built into its base, similar to other mopping robots. It uses the wash tray to rinse and dry its mop pads while using them. It does not have a removable tray so dust, dirt and other grime will gradually build up on the bottom.
3. RoboVac X8 Hybrid
This is the first model of mopping from Anker which is well-known for its robot vacuums. It is equipped with improved intelligence and support for multiple maps, LIDAR scanning and twin-turbine technology that automatically adjusts to the floor you're cleaning. It's a mid-range robotic cleaner that's appealing, even if its promise of being a one-stop-shop for floor cleaning doesn't be realized.
The X8 Hybrid looks like a traditional robotic vacuum cleaner from the top, with its circular shape, sweeping wheels and an elevated area for sensors. On the other hand there's a motorized floorbrush as well as a single side brush that pushes dust from the edges into the main artery of its' mouth.' It's a little smaller than the main brushes on the competing iRobot Roomba S9, which I found makes it easier to access under sofas and chairs.
Its mapping system lets you create no-mop zones and specific cleaning zones. However, it has a tendency to hit things (including its charging dock) and isn't always adept in negotiating rug. It did a great job of removing pet hair on floors that were not paved, though, and in our tests it was able to pick up 89.5 percent of cat litter - a figure that is higher than all but the most powerful robots we've examined.
Although it's controlled through the app, the X8 Hybrid also comes with a series of physical buttons on its base that allow you to select a cleaning mode, and turn the robot off and on. You can also use these to set no-go zones and see real-time maps. It's also a bit chatty, and will let you know what it's planning to do next (start cleaning) or notify you if something isn't working.
4. ILIFE A4s
This model is high-tech and sucks up pet hair, kibble and other debris with top-notch performance and is able to effortlessly maneuver around furniture legs. It also has an impressive feature set that includes two cleaning modes, a self-emptying dock, and a real-time obstacle avoidance system. The Wi-Fi enabled device is controlled best through the Neato App where cleaning schedules are set and maintenance requirements are monitored. The X2 Omni is an excellent choice for homes that have a hardwood floors and carpet, but it requires some advanced planning to avoid getting stuck by toys, power cords or other obstacles that might be unexpected.
In our hardwood floor and kibble tests the robot performed very well and was able to take everything from one grain of rice to several pieces of dog food in one sweep. It had a bit of difficulty transitioning to carpets, however, in general, this vacuum cleaner is perfect for large spaces with both types of flooring and a mix of pets.
The A4s Pro is expensive however it's a great buy for people who want to be able to leave the house with no hands on so they can do other things or do chores. The A4s Pro has a convenient auto-cleaning feature that increases suction to take on the most difficult spills or dirt. It also has a battery-powered ElectroWall to set boundaries for the robot.
This budget-friendly option from a well-known upstart brand is the cheapest robot we've tested yet and offers an exceptional value for the money. Its basic navigation system is based on a very basic random pathing algorithm, and it lacks the ability to map rooms. This is why it's less effective as other models on this list. It's still able get under furniture and into corners. Mopping mode was very effective in our tests and picked up hairs that were straying and other debris.
5. Shark iQ
Shark's iQ may not appear as sturdy, but it is better at cleaning pet hair from all surfaces. It clears bare floors more thoroughly and does a fair job on carpets with a low pile and makes use of smart-pathing navigational technology for superior maneuverability. It can be directed to a specific location, and has a suite of advanced automation features including no-go zones and schedules. It even lets you to pause and resume a cleaning session which is ideal for households with pets.
The self-cleaning brushroll eliminates tangles and can hold up to 30 day's worth of dirt. It comes with angled side brushes to reach into corners and a multi-stage filter system that captures dust, dander and allergens.
This robot vacuum is well-built and feels solid. It has an app for smartphones that allows you to change the settings of your vacuum and schedule cleaning sessions ahead of time. The app lets you view the remaining battery life of the iQ and also receive push notifications in the event of any issues during a cleaning session. You can also control it using your voice using an Amazon Alexa device or Google Assistant device. If you don't have either of these devices you can mark the boundaries of your area with physical boundary lines.
The iQ is great for cleaning floors that aren't clean, and is able to do well on carpets that are sagging and low-pile. However it doesn't provide the same level of autonomy as our top choices. It's also expensive and its monthly costs can increase.
